Two ways to keep a family story.
We share an interest in personal, illustrated family books. Here is where the approaches meet, and where they currently differ.
Konteen begins with someone’s voice.
Konteen describes a link-based interview for a parent or grandparent. An AI interviewer helps surface memories, which become a children’s narrative and illustrated book. Its public walkthrough shows storyteller profiles, a style picker, and a family library.
Gouda’s planner starts with a story you type: a real memory, an invented adventure, or a complete draft. Several children can share the lead. Gouda does not offer voice recording or interviewing today.
A recurring family world is shared ground.
Konteen explicitly discusses recurring characters, places, themes, and multilingual storytelling. Gouda should not claim those ideas are exclusive.
Gouda’s pilot collection lets families curate people, pets, places, objects, traditions, and phrases, with private reference photos. Families choose which references belong in each book; the finished likeness and story still need review.
Compare format and price together.
Konteen’s pricing page initially displays a $40 paperback and three paperbacks for $105, with domestic shipping included. A digital proof is included for review. It also has a hardcover selector; those paperback amounts are not verified hardcover prices.
Gouda’s target is $50 for one board book or $180 for four different stories, before quoted shipping and tax. Live ordering is not open. Paperback and board-book manufacturing differ, and a three-book set is not the same as four books.

What we can learn.
Konteen makes the human starting point clear: someone with a memory worth passing on. Its brief stages and concrete examples make the process easy to imagine.
For Gouda, the written-story path should be equally clear. We explain style suggestions, preserve a full physical-size layout review, and intend each free digital book to be a complete endpoint whether or not a family buys print. Our public sample already works that way.
